White Draw stood, facing away from the Decepticon trio she had just met but not seen. Her sightless gaze settled on a point in the distance, one under which she knew lay the last vestiges of anything like a home she ever had.
Home is behind
It was her home... It had been her home, at least. But then Autobots had invaded, murdered her Teacher. She heard Spyglass step up to her, felt his hand on her shoulder. "Is that where you began?" he asked, voice soft.
"It was...yes, it was. But it is no longer. There are devils there."
The world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread.
She felt Spectros calming soul in her mind. "Devils? Weve never heard of devils, not real ones anyway."
"There are devils. At least one, and he was such that I know there are more." For a moment, she was silent. "Where do I go from here? Darkness falls all around me; I am dead and the devils are near me."
Through shadow,
Spectros began speaking, his voice soft, but it swiftly blended with his brothers to a fourth voice who owned the calm. "White Draw, remember your name, remember who you are. I didnt give you the name to no purpose. Walk through the shadow; it cant hurt you."
To the edge of night
Her mouth twisted in bitterness. "How far it is to walk through my shadows. They are deep, and no different than the darkness of the devil who came for me." Her fingers worked, swift white and gray movement in the darkness of their world, writing signs in the air that Spectro, Spyglass, and Viewfinder found chilling.
The fourth voice faded, and for a time, there was silence. For a time, Viewfinder was solemn. "We dont understand the devils, we dont know who they are. Weve never seen a devil...at least, if we have, we didnt recognize it for what it was. But we know you arent a devil." He put his hands over White Draws, stilling their disturbing motions.
"We think we understand, though," Spyglass said. "You have seen us, but we are seers also, all of me. We cant all see the same thing, but we see shadows on you. I think the rest of me would agree...but I have given you a name." The fourth voice returned, and White Draw turned her head toward Spyglass. "I stand on a world where all is in shadows, and all is darkness. I know you cant see, but lift your head...gaze up at the silent sky and feel the light there."
Until the stars are all alight
White Draw did as Spyglass...or rather, Reflector, the fourth, the merging of the three, had asked. No, she could not see above her into the stillness of the air above, but her heat sensors felt the searing brightness of stars, the warmth of those distant pinpricks. She heard Reflector look up as well, three heads moving in unison to the call of the fourth being they had become.
Quietly, Reflector said, "There are worlds out there, untouched and unspoilt. I hope they always remain that way."
Mist and shadow
Cloud and shade
"I hope you can help me, help us, keep them that way. Walk out of your shadows. Walk into the night, the clear, unsullied night."
Spectro spoke this time; the voice of Reflector faded away as quickly as it had come. "Spyglass is right. We are seers of a sort. Not everything is under shadow or concealed in mist. The stars arent. We arent."
White Draw dropped her head, and the anxious movements of her hands, which still twitched under Spyglass hold, suddenly stilled. "There was light," she intoned, "Light that fell under shadows."
"And there are shadows that fall away under the light," Viewfinder answered, his voice still solemn, giving weight to the words of a creature in a constant state of internal delight.
All shall fade
"Show us light," Spectro said, and White Draw heard him smile. "And we will show you light as we know it, a light that will never fade no matter how trampled it may become."
All shall...fade.
White Draw smiled slightly. "I have seen it, in my mind. A sliver of it."
"Light indomitable," Spectro returned. "Shadows, mist, thats all that it is. Shade makes hidden, but no one can put out a light simply by covering it. Indomitable light."
