The submissions guidlines for the Dragon Library (and any other part of Princess Artemis' Page proper...)

Yes, I take submissions for the Dragon Library. I want to collect as many Cid Highwind focused (or at least giving Cid a good showing) fanfics as I can. I've already got a bunch, and I'm always looking for more.

However, since I'm opening the library to submissions, I figured I ought to have some guidelines.

  1. I don't accept fanfiction that is in poor taste or which is unbelievable out of character. I know that with FFVII characters, there is a lot of lee-way in interpreting them, but there are lines not to cross! That includes well written works...there is one Cid fic I can think of right now that was written well, with good grammar and everything, but was so disgustingly off-character that I would never have it here, and would prefer never to see it again. (Cid was a cold-blooded murderer. Not in good taste.)
  2. I don't want anything to do with fics that only exist for relationships. Most of the time I find such somewhat repugnant, for the main reason that I like Cid, not his relationships. Relationships can be a big part, but if ultimately the relationship, etc., is the main character of the plot, well....do a find/replace on Cid and make him Cloud or something. However, naturally, if the fic is very in character and Cid is extremely Cidish and a find/replace wouldn't work, by all means, lemme see it!
  3. I reeeeally don't accept lemon, yaoi, slash, or anything explicitly sexual. There is a chapter of Children of Jenova that very nearly crossed the line for me, and I labled it. The only reason it didn't cross the line was because it was one scene out of a very large work.
  4. I may accept what others might mistake for shounen-ai. HOWEVER, that is only because some fiction that is not shonen-ai is mistaken for it. For instance, Astronia's Northern Crater isn't shounen-ai, but she felt the need to put a warning about it, lest someone mistake it (she didn't think it was, but I guess she felt some might!) SO, if you have a fic with Cid in it that toes the shounen-ai line, send it along, and I'll look at it carefully. If it's not shounen-ai, but could be mistaken for it, I'll post it. If not, I won't. Don't bother sending in obvious shounen-ai. I don't want it!
  5. I do seem to be accepting non-Cid fics. I'd rather have Cid fics. I guess I'm being too nice : ) Anyway, I'll point out grammatical stuff and what not before I post it, give y'all a chance to correct things. However, I don't accept non-FFVII fics. That's just because this really is a FFVII website, and while I have a very few Xenogears and Transformers fics (with the exception of all of my fanfiction), that is only one small section.
  6. Submissions should be in this form: Tell me it's a submission, attach it as HTML, Word 97 or lower .doc, or .txt, or send me the URL, and if you have a website, please provide it. I like to link to the sites of persons whose work I host as a matter of policy. That way, people can go read more of your work if they like what they see here. Sorry, I changed this a little...one submission was pasted in the body of the e-mail and it made for some eeeevil formatting problems >_<
  7. If you save your fanfic in Word 2000 and it is longer than a few pages, please don't send it to me. Do you have ANY idea how much information Word 2000 Microsoft Code from Hell reveals about you? I might accidently get your home address. I don't want, you don't want, and the code is evil anyway!
  8. I do not accept fanart submissions. At all. The Captain's gift for my splash page is the only work I didn't do that is a feature of this site (excluding awards, webring graphics, and gifts). The reason? He worked hard on it, obviously, and it was a gift out of friendship to spruce up my site. Ultimately, art is the reason I pay large sums of money for this webspace, and I want to use it to showcase my work...even if I haven't quite got around to that bit yet.

OK, now that that's outta my system, please do send submissions my way! Send them to Princess Artemis.
