Ruby and Emerald WEAPONS

I mean, c'mon. What would a Final Fantasy VII site be without one of these?

Ruby WEAPON

Firstly, have Knights of the Round at least to the second star. Here is the materia combonation best used: Knights of the Round=HP Absorb, Mime, W Summon, Fire=Elemental (must be leveled up until it absorbs the given element), and tons of HP Plus if you have 'em. Equip on Cloud (or one other character) and save the game. Attack Ruby until it sucks down the two extra characters, leaving Cloud (or the character equipped with the materia) to face it alone. (If it doesn't go thus, reset and start over). When its claws are in the sand, cast Knights twice. Each casting will absorb ~8000 HP. After one KoR, Ruby will counter with Ultima. Not to worry! Ultima doesn't do enough damage to kill Cloud, and he just ups and casts the second KoR, healing him. Then, while Cloud's waiting to mime his summons, Ruby WEAPON might attack with one of its various beams and such. All are fire-based, so all heal Cloud! With this combonation of materias, Ruby can't even come close to killing Cloud.

This alternate method was recently sent to me by C. Wood:

"I found that the easiest way to actually beat Ruby is to start with two of the party dead and Ruby's first move will be to drop his tentacles into the sand. Cast phoenix and resurrect you fallen team mates. It will heal the ruby weapon for around 500-700 HP but this leaves more party members to fight with. Then use an item called "dazer" on him which will paralyzes him and he won't counter with Ultima when hit with KoR. W-summon KoR 2 and then mime it with the other party members. After 2-3 turns the dazer's effect will stop and you will have to uses another one (his whole body will start to move and it is very noticeable). Dazers can be found in the forest between Mt. Nibel's exit and rocket town by stealing from the mushroom enemies (Battle caps I think there called). They appear in groups of either 3 or 5 and if you have a mega all you could steal from all of them with one character. This gives you the chance to kill Ruby at low levels and you don't need to much extra material to do this."

Emerald WEAPON

This one is the hard one. Have KoR to at least the second star (more is better)=HP Absorb, three Mimes, Final Attack=Phoenix (as many stars as possible), W Summon, Bahamut ZERO=Quadra Magic, HP Plus all over the place, and no, I repeat, no Counter Attacks! Start off with two KoR, then mime until the person with Final Attack gets offed (it will happen), then start again if you can. If you can't, cast two Bahamut ZERO's (he'll attack eight times). When Emerald WEAPON uses Aire Tam Storm, start the miming over. It shouldn't be too hard, although Ruby is easier, in my opinion.
