Cid Stuff

Some stuff I've got that's Cid-esque in nature...

Nyeaaah!! I got a Cid plushie!! Finally!

He's a Banpresto UFO Catcher doll, only available in Japanese toy machines.

It took some looking, but I finally got one. I tried bidding for one on eBay, but was unable to do it because I wasn't home at the right time. So I e-mailed the seller to see if she had another, and wonder of wonders, she did! I got him for $45 including shipping, and I've seen him go for as much as $126 on eBay.

Suffice it to say, I'm happy with the price.

Yeah, he's a little small for $45...but he's the only official real live Cid Highwind merchandise I own!

So cut me some slack ;)

Dynamite Teicho: Cid Only doujinshi! Mwa ha! Go check Periodicals for scans and patehtic attempts to translate some of the pages. Mainly funny comics, there are a couple where there could be shounen-ai but Cid makes dang sure they know he ain't interested. People get hurt! People get yelled at! Cid lays the smackdown! Reeve isn't so lucky on one page, though.

I can't read the circle of doujinshika who drew this, which bums me out--they might have made another Cid Only doujinshi...

Meteor Rain: a doujinshi staring mainly Cid, Vincent, Sephiroth, and Cloud. Again, check Periodicals for scans. A mixture of funny and serious stories; very likely has a shounen-ai subtext, but there's nothing remotely obvious about it. In fact, I think the circle was divided on it, since they wrote notes to each other on it and at one point Vincent whispers to himself about how much like Lucretia Sephiroth looks, and there are little hearts around his aside...and then another member drew an arrow to the whispering with one kanji: "Die".

Anyway, it's by another circle I can't read. I know they did at least one other FFVII doujinshi, but I don't recall the title.

Update for 2006 -- WHAAA HOO!!! I finally have finally laid hands upon Kotobukiya's Highwind model! Gaze ye in wonder at her awesomness! I think one of her rotors is the wrong size, but I'm not complaining too loud. $100 buckazoids for something I've wanted for 7 years? Not too shabby.

And, sadly, that's the limit of Cid-related merchandise I own. Bandai decided to be stupid and not make a Cid figure (I have the FFVII ones they made, and some of the FFIX figures)...Kotobukia feels that YUFFIE deserved a statue more than Cid (although they made a gorgeous Highwind...pretty sure it's unavailable...actually, they re-released it ha ha ha...). I do have a lot of the FFVIII Guardian Forces and an FFX Auron statue they made...and painted his eye blue and mine is missing his arm guard...sheesh. Cid gets no love :P There's a hideous keychain out there and, wonder of wonders, a Zippo lighter with Cid on it, but I'm not that much of a fangirl that I'd pay money for ugly or outrageous money for a lighter ; )

If any of y'all know of other Cid merchandise I can grab hold of (and not any acky doujinshi; the two I have is my limit on anything not gen...I'd love to find one with lots of Shera in it), lemme know, OK?
